Warranty Nest Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Warranty Nest iPhone application handles information. Warranty Nest is developed and operated by Jozsef Ritter. Questions may be sent to info@bestiphoneaccessories.com.

Privacy by design

Warranty Nest is designed as a local-first application. It does not require an account and does not include advertising, behavioral tracking, or analytics SDKs. Cloud synchronization is not currently enabled.

Information stored on your device

Information you add to Warranty Nest is stored locally on your iPhone. This may include product and brand names, categories, purchase and expiration dates, warranty durations, stores, prices and currencies, serial and model numbers, barcodes, notes, tags, favorite and archive status, receipts, PDF files, product photos, additional photos, and reminder settings.

Receipt text recognition is performed on the device using Apple technologies. Receipt images, PDF documents, recognized text, photos, notes, and warranty records are not sent to Jozsef Ritter or to a Warranty Nest server.

Device permissions

Warranty Nest may request access to the camera so you can scan receipts, capture product photos, and scan barcodes. Apple’s system photo picker lets you choose specific images without giving the app unrestricted access to your photo library. Notification permission is requested only when you choose to enable warranty reminders. These reminders are scheduled locally through Apple’s notification system.

You can change camera and notification permissions at any time in iPhone Settings.

Optional barcode product lookup

If you choose online product lookup, Warranty Nest sends the entered or scanned barcode to UPCitemdb over an encrypted HTTPS connection to request possible product details such as a product name, brand, model, and category. Warranty Nest does not send your receipts, photos, notes, serial numbers, purchase details, or warranty library with this request.

UPCitemdb may receive the barcode and standard network information associated with an internet request, such as an IP address and technical request metadata. Its handling of that information is governed by the UPCitemdb Privacy Policy. Online product lookup is optional; you can keep or enter a barcode without using it.

Exports, backups, and sharing

Warranty Nest creates JSON, CSV, and full-backup files only when you request them. You choose where those files are saved or shared through Apple’s system interfaces. After a file leaves Warranty Nest, its handling is controlled by the destination you selected. You are responsible for protecting exported files because they may contain sensitive purchase information and attachments.

Information you send for support

If you contact support, Jozsef Ritter receives the email address and information you choose to include. This information is used to respond, troubleshoot, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. Support correspondence is retained only as reasonably necessary for those purposes.

Sale, advertising, and tracking

Warranty Nest does not sell personal information. It does not use your warranty information for advertising and does not track you across apps or websites.

Retention and deletion

Local information remains on your device until you delete individual records, restore or replace your library, or remove the app and its data. Warranty Nest cannot remotely access or delete this local information. You can create an export or backup before deleting it.

Security

Warranty Nest uses Apple platform protections and stores attachments with iOS file protection. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure, so you should protect your iPhone with a passcode and keep backup files in a trusted location.

Children

Warranty Nest is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Warranty Nest’s features or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when an update is published.
